THE WIRRAL WAY

A gentle 12 mile ride along a former railway line. Again no hills to worry about & no traffic except for a short stretch on a quiet residential road. Start at West Kirby or at our base 2 miles away at Thurstaston.

West Kirby has lots of shops & restaurants & a Marine Lake. One of the nicest towns on the Wirral & definitely worth a look. Can be very busy in the summer though. Don't worry we are going to take you away to places much quieter!

From West Kirby Ashton Park is worth an immediate detour. Tennis courts, a bowling green, childrens play area & a lake. Soon you will experience breathtaking views across the River Dee estuary to North Wales. Pass another of the Wirrals many golf courses & be sure to stop off at the Thurstaston visitor centre & picnic site.

The pretty village of Parkgate is a favourite detour off the Wirral Way. Excellent place for lunch with take away, pubs & restaurants. What ever you decide be sure to include the famous home made ice cream.

Back on the route & the next highlight will be the preserved 1950 style railway station at Hadlow Road. Not a bad place to finish & turn round although officially the route finishes a bit further on at Hooton where there is a train station.
