ROUTE 56

Stretching from Southport to Chester via Liverpool & Wirral. Suitable to people wanting to cycle a bit further & possibly return by train. Merseyrail is very cycle friendly & does not charge for bikes.

Scope to incorporate a trip on the Mersey Ferry. The route from Storeton to Parkgate is one of our favourites. Passing near the Brimstage Craft Centre (good spot for a tea break) & through Thornton Hough – one of Wirral’s prettiest villages before finishing with a home made ice cream at Parkgate.

Seacombe to Wallasey golf Course via New Brighton is another lovely stretch.

Most but not all of Route 56 is traffic free.
